Everest Three High Passes Trek is the ultimate trek for thrill seekers and adventurers in the Everest region of Nepal Himalaya. On this trek, you will not only reach Everest Base Camp but also cross the three highest passes of the Khumbu region – Kongma La Pass (5,535/18,159 ft), Cho La Pass (5420 m/17,782 ft), and Renzo La Pass . (5,340 m/17,520 ft).
The Everest 3 High Passes Trek is one of the most adventurous treks in the world that takes you deep into the Everest region. What's around Mount Everest, you can see how geography lifts the world's tallest mountain.
The trek is intense and provides a more detailed picture of the continuous human struggle in the harsh terrain, cold climate, and high altitudes.
It goes without saying that one does not climb Mount Everest alone. In fact, there are many high mountains around Everest including Lhotse (8,516 m), Ama Dablam (6,812 m), Makalu (8,516 m).
Everest Three High Passs trek takes place in Everest National Park area. Everest National Park covers an area of 1148 square kilometers.
This national park is home to 118 species of birds, rare mammals like musk deer, snow leopard, red panda and Himalayan black bear. The vegetation of this region is dwarf, and plants stop growing above 5,750 meters.
Your 17-day Everest High Pass trek begins with a 45-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,840m).
After the flight, you will trek to Phakding (2,610m), where we will spend the night. The next morning, after crossing several suspension bridges over fast-flowing white rivers, we will reach Namche Bazar (3,440m).
Namche market is the perfect place for us and is full of shops, restaurants and internet cafes. We will also visit nearby monasteries, chief among them being the Khumjung Monastery. If you want to see a traditional Sherpa settlement, you can do a one-hour walk. While conveniently located in Namche Bazaar, you will also get a chance to get your first glimpse of Mount Everest by trekking up to the Everest View Hotel.
After a day's rest at Namche, we continue our three high pass trek towards Thame (3,750m). Here our route diverges from the classic Everest Base Camp trek, which continues to Tengboche. We follow the river Bhotekoshi to reach Thame. There is a small hydroelectric project in front of Thame.
We rise at Thame and brace for the next day's trek towards Lungden (4,500m). The paths are quite challenging, and you have to walk for about six hours to reach Lungden, where we will spend our night.
The next day will be exciting too. We will leave Lungden behind and head towards the Gokyo Lake area. Somewhere between Lungden and Gokyo is the Renzo La Pass (54,35 m), the first of three major passes we will cross. From Renzo La Pass, you can see amazing views of the Gokyo Lake system and several Himalayan peaks – including Everest (8,848m), Lhotse (8516m), Makalu (8,481m), Cho Oyu (8,201m), and Ama Dablam (6,812m). . m). We will stay in Gokyo for the night and spend the next day in Acclimatization.
As we acclimatise to Gokyo, we'll head to Gokyo Ri (5,483m) from where you'll see six of the world's tallest peaks. You can see four of the mountains - Everest (8,848 m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Makalu (8,485 m), and. Cho Oyu (8,188 m). The views from Gokyo Ri are probably the best in the Everest region, and the views are breathtaking.
Then, we will continue our journey from Gokyo to Thaganak (4,700m), passing Ngozumpa Glacier on the way. From the trails, in addition to the amazing Himalayan landscapes, you will also have the chance to see yaks grazing, or if you are lucky, yaks grazing. The next day's destination is Dzongla (4,855m), and on the way Cho La Pass (5,420m). You will be walking through the Chola Pass, and this is the second major pass of this trek. This pass connects the Gokyo region and the Everest region and serves as an Everest viewpoint.
Crossing the Cho La Pass, you have entered the Everest region, and we will head towards Everest Base Camp, but we will have to stop at two places - Lobuche (4,910m) and Gorak Shep (5,185m).
As we proceed from Dzongla to Lobuche, you will see monumental statues of travelers who survived the harsh conditions of the region.
The eleventh day of the trek is going to be extraordinary; You will rise to Lobuche (4,930 m) and go to Gorak Shep (5,185 m).
You will have to walk for about eight hours to reach Gorak Shep, where you will leave your luggage and climb to Everest Base Camp (5,364m). This is a great achievement. Despite the rugged terrain, high altitude and challenging climate, you managed to reach the Everest base camp. We appreciate your efforts and determination
After spending time at EBC we will descend Gorak Shep and spend the night there. The next morning we will wake up at Gorak Shep and trek to Kala Patthar (5,555 m), from where we can have a heavenly view of the dawn breaking over Everest. We will soak in the incredible scenery and return to Gorak Shep and descend to Lobuche for the night.
The next morning we will rise in Lobuche and head to Chukung (4,730m), and in between is the Kongma La Pass (5,535m) – the last of our three major passes. It is also the highest of the three passes and is challenging but remember that the more challenging the trek - the more rewards you will reap. For that day we will spend the night in Chukung.
On our fourteenth day we leave Chukung behind and head to Tengboche (3,855m) passing Dingboche and Pangboche on the way. From the road, you can see the farmlands, surrounded by rocks, so that the crops are protected from the cold wind and wild animals. The route allows you to see some spectacular views of Amadablum (6856m), Everest (8848m), Nuptse (7861m) and Lhotse (8501m). We will not forget to visit the famous 500 years old Tengboche Monastery on the way back.
Our trek is coming to an end, and the next day's trek will bring us back to Namche Bazaar. The road is uneven and passes through dense forest, and if you're lucky, you'll have a chance to see Himalayan pheasants, musk deer, mountain goats, or even snow leopards. We will spend the night in Namche Bazaar which is biggest Bazaar of Everest region.

You can either buy packed mineral water from local lodges and shops along the way or fill your own bottle with boiled water at an additional cost. Mountain Magic Treks provides water purification tablets if you need them.

More information about visas can be found at https://www.immigration.gov.np/.
Nepalese Rupee (NPR/Rs) is the local currency.
(1 USD = ~ Rs. 120 NPR)
Major foreign currencies can be exchanged through local banks and legitimate money exchanges in Kathmandu and Thamel.
Legal money exchanges display their running exchange rates clearly to the public.
Please note that you can only use INR (Indian Rupee) 100 and INR 2000 notes in Nepal.
Mountain Magic Treks prefers cash exchange to avoid hassles like long process and high rate of commission at banks. You can withdraw cash (in rupees only) from ATMs in Kathmandu and Thamel. Many ATMs are open 24 hours a day. Maximum withdrawal amount is Rs 35,000 for Rs 500 processing fee if you use your foreign card.
If you use banks or financial institutions for currency exchange, they will charge a service fee of around 4% or more.
There are no banks and money exchange services in the trekking areas, so you have to exchange your money in Kathmandu - depending on how much personal expenses you need. People in the Himalayas accept only Nepali currency.
Most established banks in Asia do not accept old, torn or defaced foreign notes. Please make sure you have new, clean notes.
The weight limit is 9-kg per trekker. A porter will carry the luggage of two trekkers. We do not allow our porters to carry more than 18 kg. If you want to bring more luggage, we can arrange an extra porter. We expect trekkers to carry regular bags for their valuables and essential documents. You can stock up on extra stuff for free at the Mountain Magic Treks Store.
We will go over gear, equipment, and essentials during our briefing before starting the trek.
We are aware of the consequences of traveling to remote areas. Therefore, we ensure that our operations do not unnecessarily harm the environment. We have been organizing eco-friendly trips in collaboration with Kathmandu Environmental Education Project (KEEP) so that it benefits both travelers and locals.

Wow!! What an amazing experience!!! Rewati made our Nepal adventure absolutely incredible. From the first email 8 months prior to our trip all the way up till we left Nepal and got home he was 100% on top of his game. The trek was perfectly coordinated and when my girlfriend (unfortunately) got AMS, Rewati and our guide (Purna) stepped up and made sure she was taken care of. I wish I could give them higher than 5 stars because that is what they deserve. Thank you for everything guys -- it truly was a trip of a lifetime!!
Enjoy the popular trekking and tour packages in Nepal Himalayas. 2025.
