Nagarkot Short Trek

Starting with short morning drive to Sundarijal North East from Kathmandu city located within a distance of 15 k.m. From this small town of Sundarijal, hike uphill through rural farm villages with beautiful cascade waterfalls and then reaching at the entrance of Shivapuri National Park.

From here through patch of forest and passing many scattered farm fields and villages then reaching the ridge top at Chisapani where the air gets cooler as this small village stands at 2,300 meters overlooking grand panorama of snow capped mountains from Annapurna-Manaslu-Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himal towards Jugal Himal range, view of whole Kathmandu valley, this spot offers stunning sunrise and sunset views as well.

After enjoyable morning with views of sunrise over mountain panorama starts with pleasant walk on gradual winding path into enchanting rhododendron, pines forested areas with downhill to reach at Chowki-Bhanjyang, a small farm village overlooking the eastern side of the Kathmandu valley rim.

After a nice break here the trail continues on gradual path for few hours passing through Jarsing Pawa 1,700m, from this village route diverts to the upper level on the small trail, with downhill path for a short distance to the village at Kartike Bhanyang. From here an hour uphill walk to popular and scenic destination at Nagarkot, a hill town for overnight stop.

Nagarkot, located at an elevation of 2,100 meters, this hill top is famous for stunning sunrises and sunset views reflecting its light on range of snow capped mountains from Mt. Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang-Jugal Himal Mt. Gauri Shanker and all the way towards Everest range of peaks in the far eastern horizon.

From Nagarkot catching views of stunning sunrise over mountains, walk downhill to reach at Telkot a small farm village, then a climb into farm and villages, on the least walked area.

Walk lead through forest on pleasant trail continue hiking with few short ups and downhill all the way to reach at Changu Narayan Temple premises and its medieval type old village, a famous and oldest temple of Nepal offering panorama of mountains and views of Kathmandu valley.

Changu Narayan temple and its village located in a peaceful environment with old traditional Newar houses, here a short walk up the steps to Changunararyan Temple premises.

Once inside the temple compound enjoy the serene surrounding with marvelous artwork of Changunararyan Temple, one of Nepal’s oldest monument This temple listed in the World Heritage Site, a fifth century old standing over a hillock 15 km. east of Bhaktapur the temple adorned with full of artistic works on metal and wood.

Inscription dating back to 464 AD found here are the first epigraphic evidences of Nepalese history. After an interesting visit in the ancient temple, drive back to Kathmandu with exciting tour of Bhaktapur Durbar Square with full of arts and culture.
