Weather is the most deciding factor while trekking in ABC. Although hiking to the base camp is possible year-round, you'll find the mildest weather and best views in the spring and fall. However, if you are the adventurous type, you can trek in winter or during monsoon.
Mountain Magic Treks conducts treks throughout the year.
Here is a snapshot of weather conditions at higher elevations in the ABC regions during different seasons.
Spring (March-May) is one of the most favorable seasons for Annapurna Base Camp trekking. During this season, the climate is mild, rainfall is minimal, and trekking conditions are perfect. The average daily temperature in ABC ranges between 10 to 0 degrees Celsius. The lower trek areas are even warmer.
From mid-March to mid-May the temperature starts to rise. Spring weather is cool, the sky is clear, and you can enjoy clear mountain scenery. The trekking season starts after March and, by April, the trek route looks inviting with red, pink and white rhododendron flowers.
June to August is hot in Nepal but coincides with the monsoon. Although temperatures are high at higher altitudes, the rains make the roads wet and slippery.
Day temperatures at high altitudes typically range from 10°C to 23°C and nights are relatively cool (5°C to 10°C). Mornings are mostly clear, but clouds build in the afternoon and disappear at night.
During the summer, the vegetation blooms and offers beautiful views that you cannot catch in other seasons.
Autumn (September, October, November), like spring, is a perfect season to trek in ABC due to moderate temperatures, light winds, and low rainfall.
During this season, the sun shines brightly, the sky is clear, and you get a great view of the mountains. The night sky is also clear, allowing you to observe the amazing night sky.
Monsoon ends in early September, and the weather ranges from mild to hot days. Daytime temperatures can reach up to 20°C at higher altitudes - nights are cooler with temperatures around 5°C.
Greens grown in the monsoons fade to golden/amber and provide a spectacular contrast against the crystal blue sky, and grain begins to ripen in the terraced fields. The environment is clean, and the plains are picturesque. Nepal's biggest festivals - Dashain and Tihar - also fall during these seasons to give you a festive mood.
Winter (December – February) treks to ABC are moderately popular. ABC trek areas are cold during this season, but it excites adventurous trekkers. In ABC, the temperature can be as low as -10 degrees Celsius.
The coldest period is from December to early February. After February, the weather gradually warms up. Daytime is relatively warm with lots of sunshine. Despite the cold, winter skies are usually clear, the mountain views are magnificent with snow-capped caps, and the trails are less busy. It is not be the best trekking season for beginner hikers, but experienced trekkers wouldn't have a problem.
Himalayan weather is unpredictable and can change quickly.

Great experience with Rewati from Mountain Magic
After did our Annapurna Base Camp Trek in January 2018, we decided to go for ABC in 2018 and we still prefer the service from Mountain Magic Treks as the friendly boss and his friendly staffs are very experience in mountain climbing and hiking. Total duration is 7 days and although it was tough but we has plenty of funs (but also muscle pains). The trail were with full of beautiful sceneryes especially in the month of November. I will recommend to have a minimum of 8 to 9 days for ABC trail for those interested, so you will have more time to enjoy the Sceneries (as some of us can't effort to have long leave....). I also strongly recommended to use the services of Mountain Magic as they are the expert and you have no headache in all arrangements. Lastly my very special thanks to our mountain Guides, Rewati and Khagendra and also many thanks to all our staff during our hike.

We just completed the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. This consisted of 10 full days of trekking which were challenging but highly rewarding.
When we arrived in Kathmandu, we were greeted by a Mountain Magic Treks associate who transported us to a nice hotel in Thamel. We then had a couple of nights in Kathmandu where a city tour was organized for us and we were given time to prepare for the trek. We then flew to Pokhara before starting our trek. We started off in the lower parts of the Annapurna region, passing through small villages each with its own culture. We gradually made our way up through the mountains until we reached Annapurna Base Camp at 4130m high. We then descended back through the valleys before arriving back to Pokhara. From Pokhara, we got the tourist bus back to Kathmandu.
The trek had some incredible views (most notably at Poon Hill) and we met some lovely people along the way and cooked some amazing food.
Our guide was Khem Basnet - without whom I truly believe would have been less memorable. He is a local Nepalese man with a young family who works incredibly hard to ensure his guests have a wonderful time. He takes time to ensure every member of the group is happy, comfortable, and enjoying themselves (his favorite saying being: “if you’re happy, then I’m happy!” He phoned hotels in advance to ensure we had the nicest rooms with the best views of the mountains, he took orders for food, cooked food himself for us, bought chocolate and fresh fruit for us daily, and lots more.
By the end of the trip, I think it’s safe to say that Khem was more of a friend than a guide, and I’m sure we will stay in touch
Special thanks must also go to our porters: Kedar, Ganesh, and Thakur who were all very smiley and did a great job carrying our bags.
Overall if you’re looking for a place to trek, I would highly recommend the Annapurna region but definitely make sure you book it with Mountain Magic Treks - I can guarantee you won’t regret it!

Great experience in the Annapurna Basecamp trek!
We did the Annapurna Basecamp trek at the beginning of October with Rewati. It was an amazing experience, wonderful landscapes and great people around us.
The organization was excellent, we were very lucky to have Rewati with us. His sympathy and enthusiasm was contagious all along the trip. Also, he took care of every small detail of the trek in an excellent way, always making sure we were safe, comfortable and happy.
I totally recommend this trip and this company.

Best trekking guide in Nepal!
We went to Nepal in March 2017 for my friend's birthday. Our plan was to do ABC. When the weather turned unexpectedly halfway up, we begged Phurba to still take us all the way to base camp. Phurba talked with all the locals and other trekkers along the trail to gauge the harsh conditions ahead. He and the porters did everything to get us as far as we could, because they knew Annapurna was what we came for. In the end, the weather was just too dangerous, and we didn't make it to base camp. However, Phurba knew the mountain so well and had other alternate routes up his sleeve. We ended up seeing so much more and had a blast!
From day one, Phurba was professional and explained all the details to us. He was patient, answering all of our questions (even the dumb ones!) and always making sure we were more than satisfied. He shared with us his life stories and taught us so much about his culture. Him and his crew have many years of experience, leading groups to EBC, ABC, and others.
To be honest, if you want a good trek, any guide will do. Mountain Magic offers so much more though; we had many great conversations and laughs with our guide and even our two porters... still keep in touch with them now! Thank you Mountain Magic for your exceptional guidance and for making this birthday trip one to remember!

Awesome trek, even better guide
I visited Nepal in March 2023 with a small group of friends. Our guide Phurba made the trip unforgettable. We originally planned to do ABC but bad weather and avalanches made the trek undoable. Phurba made sure to make alternate plans for us and ended up leading us to an unforgettable trek to Poon Hill. His expertise and knowledge of the mountains are unbeatable. Phurba had the best stories to tell and shared facts about the mountains as well as the people in the villages; it gave us so much more perspective and context as we were trekking. His insights and sharings really made our experience richer.
I also suffered from altitude sickness and an upset stomach for almost the entire trek. Phurba made sure to stay behind with me when I hiked slower than everyone else, and was patient and considerate in making sure that I was feeling ok. He made sure I always got hot water whenever we took a break at a teahouse.
Trekking with Phurba was so much more than just a guided hike; it was a culturally rich experience. We became close friends with the guide and his whole team and all keep in touch to this day. I highly recommend Mountain Magic Treks and Phurba Shurpa for your next adventure in Nepal.

I spent 1.5 weeks with Rewati as a guide, travelling around Chitwan, Pokhara and trekking to Annapurna Base Camp in April 2023. As a single female traveller, I was nervous to travel alone, but travelling with Rewati I had a great experience. He was very good company, very humorous and fun. He was very supportive when I got tired when hiking and adjusted trekking routes to suit my abilities. He was very knowledgeable about the areas we travelled to, and he took me to some very nice Nepalese restaurants and bars. Some evenings we would eat and drink together, and at other times he was very accepting when I wanted to spend some time by myself. I highly recommend. Planning on doing Everest base camp with him some time in the future. Thank you Rewati :)

We did a 9 day ABC Trek with Rewati as our guide and Kumar as our porter. We had an excellent time as we were very well looked after by Rewati and Kumar. Our accommodations were great - we had great food, and hot showers and wifi were available for the most part. Trekking was never dull, and when it became difficult, Rewati always made sure we took a break just to breathe or take hydration. But he also made sure we were on schedule so that we wouldn't miss spectacular moments such as the sunrise at Poon Hill and ABC itself. Even before the trip, Rewati was already very kind and helpful, answering all our questions by email or WhatsApp. It was a very smooth experience for us from start to finish. Overall, a really great experience and we would definitely recommend them to everyone we know! Thank you Mountain Magic!

The best adventure ever!
Annapurna Base Camp with Rawati of Mountain Magic Treks as it guide was the trip of a lifetime. An amazingly rewarding adventure on many levels. These mountains! So strong and magestic! Being inside the ring of plus 7,000 meter giants of Annapurna sanctuary is humbling and awe inspiring. Truly magical! Please make the time to immerse yourself in both the sunset and sunrise as the light, color and clouds slowly dance across the faces of these geological giants.
I have never felt so completely supported on and adventure. Our guide Rawati and porter Kesup met our every need, usually before we even knew we needed it. The meals were delicious and nourishing with Rawati encouraging us to eat more, eat more, you need it to combat altitude sickness. Same with drinking lots of water. And drink the garlic soup above 3,000 meters.
To help make sure we got good rest each evening they supplied us with very thick down coats and the warmest sleeping bags for a good night's rest. Our hotel rooms were booked in advance for every night with Rawati calling ahead before we arrive to make sure they were not given away to others. He has connections and relationships with all the places we stayed and ate at to help ensure our care and comfort.
Beyond the scenic beauty we had lots of curiosity about the flora, fauna, peoples, songs and culture of the places we walked through. I feel a deeper and more rounded connection to what I experienced and have grown to love Nepal. Immense gratitude for all that we learned and experienced.
I would give Mountain Magic Treks 10 stars if I could.
