Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath Temple and Kathmandu Durbar Square
Start your sightseeing tour with a visit to Boudhanath Stupa. The largest stupa in Nepal, this ancient stupa is a UNESCO heritage site and an important center of Tibetan Buddhism. According to local legend, the bones of Kashyapa Buddha (an earlier incarnation of Lord Buddha) are buried under this huge stupa.

Next, visit Pashupatinath Temple, another UNESCO heritage site and an important Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The pagoda-roofed temple, situated on the banks of the holy Bagmati River, dates back to 400 AD. Non-Hindus are prohibited from entering the temple. They are allowed to see the temple from the eastern bank of the river.

Later, visit Swayambhunath, a hilltop shrine that is close to the Kathmandu Valley formation. According to local legend, Kathmandu was actually a lake. A bodhisattva (divine being) Manjushri saw a lotus in this lake while meditating. He flew from Tibet and flowed the water of the lake to meditate in the lotus place. The story goes that the Swayambhunath (meaning self-created) stupa was built when the divine lotus blossomed. Sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists, you can find people of both religions praying at this temple.

You have to climb stairs to reach the temple. There is a dense population of monkeys in the mountains. That is why this temple is also called 'Monkey Temple'. From the top, you can enjoy a 360-degree view of the city. Afterwards, return to your hotel.

Patan Durbar Square, Golden Temple, Bhaktapur Durbar Square

Kathmandu Valley consists of three ancient medieval cities of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur. Today you get to visit the palace square of two of these medieval kingdoms. From your hotel, you drive to the southern end of the city.

(Lalitpur, also known as the 'City of Artisans') is one of the three medieval kingdoms of the Kathmandu Valley. Patan's beautiful Palace Square is a quadrangle lined with pagoda-roofed palaces and temples built by the Malla kings. The palace has been converted into a museum which houses many ancient relics and historical objects. Although some of the square's monuments have been damaged by the 2015 earthquake, there are still enough pagoda-roofed shrines that will grab your attention.

You will want to know that some parts of the Hollywood hit movie 'Doctor Strange' (a Marvel production) were shot at Patan Palace and Pashupatinath Temple.

After visiting Patan, head towards Bhaktapur from the eastern side of the city. Bhaktapur's Durbar Square (City of Devotees) is one of the best preserved heritage sites in the valley. No large vehicles are allowed inside the medieval square.

The 2015 earthquake damaged some old structures but some of the cultural gems still standing will take your breath away. The artistry and craftsmanship that went into creating these temples and palaces will mesmerize you. Don't miss the Golden Gate, the Palace of 55 Windows, the Nyatapol Temple (once the tallest building in the Kathmandu Valley), and its grand staircase. The old city is divided into Durbar Square, Toumadhi Square, Dattatreya Square and Pottery Square.

After you've walked through the ancient palaces and shrines, relax for a while watching the local potters and pedestrians at work in the busy Pottery Square. Before you leave Bhaktapur, don't forget to taste this medieval town's famous delicacy Juju Dhau (King's Curd).

I booked a Kathmandu Pokhara Chitwan tour with Mountain Magic Treks after reading the positive reviews about a company, and I must say I have no regrets. It was a family vacation, and we had a great time. It was fascinating to explore temples, stupas, and palace squares built in the middle Ages. We don't see this type of architecture where we come from. It was incredibly educational and eye-opening for our children who are still in elementary school. They loved the wildlife safari in Chitwan National Park. Our words cannot express the beauty of Pokhara city and its Nature. It was an unforgettable experience for all of us when we saw our first sunrise together as a Sarangkot. Thanks to all team for making our vacation so meaningful and memorable! We are also grateful to our knowledgeable guides, who were kind enough and sporty enough. We are already planning our next family vacation.

I just got back from the trip of a lifetime, and I can't thank Rewati enough for making it happen. Rewati organized a fantastic 8 Nights 9 days Nepal Tour for me and my friends that included a wonderful stay in and out of Kathmandu, a flight to Mount Everest, 1 hour flight, and a visit Pokhara and a safari in Chitwan. The week went smoothly, including all air and car travel. I felt we were getting fantastic value for money and experienced some of the best deals in Nepal. Rewati was a pleasure working with, and he responded very well to all of our questions and concerns. We are hoping to make another trip near future.
