Day 2 : In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour at places of interest.

In Kathmandu full day sightseeing tour at places of interest around Kathmandu around world heritage sites with temples-monasteries-Stupas and of old royal palace courtyard. Kathmandu, steeped with ancient heritage sites and monuments of both Hindu and Buddhist, morning after breakfast our tours starts with a short drive to Swayambhunath, a popular and famous pilgrimage sites for Buddhist and Hindu as well.

An ancient Chaitya of Asia and a major symbol of Nepal’s Buddhist heritage, Swayambhunath represents Primordial Buddha or Adi-Buddha. The hill top where Swayambhunath Chaitiya is built listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site, offers grand views of whole Kathmandu valley with distant snow capped peaks. After Swayambhunath tour leads to Bouddhanath, an important Buddhist pilgrimage and heritage sites in Nepal.  The story and history mentions that this Stupa contains relics of Buddha Kashyapa, with 176 miniature stupas and paintings of Tibetan Buddhist pantheons cover the walls that surround the Stupa at Bouddhanath. Bouddhanath Stupa is an important pilgrimage site for Tibetans which is mentioned in Tibetan classical texts such as Biography of Yeshe Tshogyal (A.D. 8-9) and Padma Ka’thang (A.D.14).

A short drive leads to famous Hindu Temple at Pashupatinath, by the bank of Baghmati River, a magnificent golden roofed temples with four cardinal silver doors the temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, in ‘Shiva Ratri’ which falls in mid February a great celebration and pilgrimage takes places flooded with worshippers from Nepal and India.

In the end of the day a short drive in the hub of Kathmandu visit Kathmandu old Durbar square with ancient Malla and Shah dynasty palace includes visit of Kumari Temple nearby where Living Goddess “Kumari” resides, tour of famous Kastamandap temple where Kathmandu got its name, as Kastamandap meaning temple built from a wood of a single tree.

Day 3 : Tour of Patan & Bhaktapur and drive to Nagarkot.

Morning visit Patan or Lalitpur City, which is close to Kathmandu and an adjoining city located south of Kathmandu on the other side of Baghmati River, an historical and cultural area with old palace buildings, artistic courtyard.

After a pleasant and interesting tour of Patan a short drive brings at Bhaktapur, a medieval time period city; in Bhaktapur visit of famous heritage places. Bhaktapur 3rd largest city around Kathmandu valley, the city was once a capital of Nepal during great Malla Kingdom from 12th to 15th century. From Bhaktapur tour continues with a short drive of an hour reaching cooler area at Nagarkot Hill.

Nagarkot located at an altitude of 2,100 m high offering superb and striking sunrise and sunset views over chain of Himalayan peaks from the hotel terraces or Resorts with afternoon free for short walk around this serene natural environment.

Day 4 : Drive to Pokhara -06 hrs journey.

Starting our scenic and exciting tour with morning drive toward Nepal Mid West offers views of Ganesh-Langtang Himal. On drive best to witness the local culture and traditional way of life as the drive leads through farm villages and towns, and then towards Pokhara with views of Manaslu and Annapurna Himalaya includes Mt. Early morning a short drive to Sarankot hill top famous view points for stunning sunrise over mountains from Dhaulagiri-Annapurna to Mt. Manaslu with views of Pokhara green valley and Lake Phewa, a popular spot for Para-Gliding as well.

After catching the views of sunrise and mountains back to hotel with sightseeing tour of Pokhara at places of interest. In Pokhara tour of Seti Gorge, Davids / Devi or Pathle Chhago Water Falls- visit Peace Stupa and around Pokhara local markets away from main touristic area.

Day 6 : Drive to Chitwan National Park for wild life activities - 05 hrs.

With grand moment around scenic Pokhara with awesome views of Annapurna Himalaya, morning drive towards Mid South of Nepal to reach at warmer and sub-tropical areas on the Terai belt at Chitwan national park.

Day 7 : Full day Jungle Activities in and around Chitwan National Park.

Program and activities begins early before breakfast, walk to elephant platform for the ride on elephant backs leading you into dense jungle to witness wildlife in its natural habitat. Other activities includes visit of elephant stables and elephant bathing and briefing. After lunch drive into the jungles as well ride on a dug-out canoe floating on Rapti River where you can see fresh water Gangetic Ghariel and Mugger crocodiles, if lucky including fresh water dolphins, and otters.

Day 8 : Drive to Lumbini and visit Lord Buddha's birth place -05 hrs.

Morning with time to visit some of historical sites Tansen Durbar, built in 1927 AD by Pratap Shamsher Jung Bahadur Rana, is a grand imposing palace in the heart of the town, once the seat of the Rana governors, the Durbar is now the district secretariat of Palpa district. Shitalpati (the Round House) is another attraction of Tansen.

Built by Khadga Shamsher, the original Shitalpati is of octagonal shape. The ‘Baggi Dhoka’, the biggest gate of its kind in Nepal is located in this square. The locals often compare it with architecture of Mugal Empire in India.

Afternoon lunch at Palpa then drive to Lumbini taking few hours to reach Buddha’s birth place in the comfort of nice hotels / resorts.

Day 9 : Morning drive to airport for flight back to Kathmandu with free afternoon.

Morning tour around Lord Buddha birth place which holds a special place in the world of Buddhism. It is also mentioned in the Mahaparinibbana Sutta that the Buddha advised his followers to visit Lumbini. Emperor Asoka of Magadha Kingdom of India made a pilgrimage in 3rd Century BC and built world famous pillar with inscription stating "Here Lord Buddha was born”.

Chinese pilgrims Tsen Tsai (4th Century A.D.), Fa-hsien (5th Century A.D.) and Hiuen-Tsang(7th Century A.D.) accounted their travel to Lumbini mentioning that they witness the holy tree, the pond, stupas and shrines. Hiuen Tsang described the Asoka Pillar with a horse capital on the top of it. Temple of Maya Devi, mother of Lord Buddha has been recently renovated under the vigilance of UNESCO. Several foreign monasteries and stupas have been constructed in Lumbini area.

After an interesting tour of Lumbini, morning drive to Bhairahawa airport for scenic flight back to Kathmandu on reaching Kathmandu transfer to your hotels with last overnight in Nepal, and free afternoon for shopping and individual activities.

Day 10 : Transfer to international airport for flight homeward bound.

Pokhara:

Pokhara is another valley and one of the major cities of Nepal situated 200 kms west of the Kathmandu Valley. The valley lies in the center of Kaski District (Gandaki Zone) of Nepal and is one of the major tourist draw cards of Nepal. Pokhara is a gateway to Annapurna Trekking. Mountains like Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I and Manaslu, which are 3 out of the 10 highest mountains in the world are within 30 miles of the city. Machhapuchhre is situated closest to the city.

Naturally rich Pokhara offers a number of attractions that draws tourists from around the world. Chitwan National Park:

The Chitwan National Park is the first National Park in Nepal that is situated in the subtropical inner terai lowland  in the Chitwan District of Nepal. Covering the area of 932 sq km it protects the forest of sal, water marshes and elephant grassland, 68 species of mammals, 544 species of birds, 56 species of herpeto fauna and 126 species of fishes. Listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site, the park is famous for One-horned Rhinoceros, Royal Bengal Tiger as well as Gharial Crocodile.

Chitwan National Park also offers a number of attractions to spend a worthy day. Some of the attractions include elephant safari, jeep safari, dugout canoe trips, jungle walks, national park headquarter, elephant and Gharial breeding center, Bis Hajaar Tal,  Tharu villages their cultural shows and their museum, and  birdwatching trip.

Nagarkot:

Located 32 km east of Kathmandu, Nagarkot is a hilltop village set on a ridge northeast of Bhaktapur. Situated 200m above the sea level, this hill station is a famous viewpoint of sunrise and sunset over the  Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh, Langtang, Jugal, Rolwaling, Everest and Nambur range in Nepal. One can also enjoy the picturesque view of the Kathmandu valley and the Shivapuri National Park.

Communication Facilities:

Postal, Freight and Cargo Services:

The Central Post office is located in Kathmandu near Dharahara Tower. It is open Monday to Friday. The opening and closing time from Monday to Thurday is 10:00 am and 5:00 pm respectively; however, on Friday the office is closed after 3:00 pm. Stamps, aerograms and postcards can be purchased from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. You can enjoy the services like registration and insurance of mail and packages and IRCs exchange. Large parcels are handled by the Foreign Post Office, which is open Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Express Mail Service (EMS) is available at GPO and at Thamel, Bashantapur and airport postal counters. Postal counters are also situated at the airport in Kathmandu.

Telephone Services:

Both landline and mobile phone services are available in Nepal. Nepal Telecommunication Corporation located at Tripureshwor is a national service provider that provides telephone, fax, telex, STD, ISD and telegraph services. Some private sectors also provide telephone services. Network coverage is good throughout Nepal except in some rural Himalayan places. Almost all the hotels and private communication sectors provide long distance telephone and fax facilities. During your stay in Nepal, you can buy and use a local SIM card, that is prepaid phone cards (requires 2 passport size photos and passport visa copy to purchase the SIM).

The country code for Nepal is 00977 and the area code of Kathmandu is 01. For other inquiries regarding the telephone number 197 can be used. Long distance call rates can be quite expensive, therefore, it is best to use the internet phone. Internet phones are easily accessible in the major cities of Nepal.

Internet Services:

Email and Internet services are very popular in most part of the country these days. All you need to do is find an internet cafe. Most of the hotels in the major cities of Nepal provide internet service for the convenience of their guests. The rates in the cities are much lesser compared to the rates in the rural areas. Most of these internet cafes also provide fax, photocopy, and scanning services.

Medical Facilities:

It is very easy to find a hospital or a private clinic  in the Kathmandu Valley. In fact, Nepal’s top general hospitals and private clinics are located in Kathmandu. These hospitals and private clinics provide top quality service. Other major cities also have a good number of general hospitals. However, in the rural areas of Nepal, health posts have been set up by the government to provide health and medical facilities for both local and visitors. All kinds of medicines are available in Kathmandu. 

For the reduction of deaths among trekkers, an association named Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA) was founded in the year 1973. The head office of HRA is located in Lazimpat near the north gate of the Palace Museum. During peak season, it operates aid posts in Pheriche (Khumbu region)  and Manang (Annapurna region) managed by expatriate physicians. However, its main job is to provide free advice's to trekkers on altitude sickness, equipment's and the condition of trekking routes.

Travel Insurance:

If you are planning this trip in Nepal, a travel insurance policy that covers all the added expenses that might result due to various health issues, injuries or accidents. Moreover, it should also cover death, misplaced luggage, theft and liability, cancellations, medical treatment (including hospital charges, cost of medicine, doctor’s fees) as well as repatriation cost.  It is also necessary to ensure that the insurance policy covers all extra activities that you are planning to accomplish throughout your stay in Nepal. 

Food and Accommodation:

Normally, the rooms are twin share, where you will have to share your room with another member of your group. In Pokhara, your accommodation is arranged in a tourist standard hotel, while in Chitwan a tourist standard lodge is booked for you. These accommodations provide all the basic amenities. Full board meal (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Tea / Coffee) is provided during the tour except in Pokhara. Usually breakfast and dinner are provided in the accommodation itself and lunch are ordered from local restaurants. Both, typical Nepali and Western food will be served during the trip, depending upon your choice. 

Vaccination and Medicines:

Although you will be consulting your doctor before planning the trip, we highly recommend you to get few vaccinations like Hepatitis A, Japanese Encephalitis, Polio, Rabies, Tetanus, Typhoid and Malaria before planning your trip to Nepal.

Moreover, we also recommend your to carry few medicines like Aspirin or Panadol –for pain and fever; Antihistamine – as a decongestant for cold allergies and to prevent motion sickness; Antibiotics, Kaolin preparation (Pepto-Bismol), Imodium or Lomotil – for upset stomach; Rehydration mixture- for the treatment of severe diarrhea; Antiseptic, Mercurochrome and antibiotic powder or similar dry spray – for cuts and grazes; Calamine lotion for irritation from bites or stings; bandages, band aids, a pair of scissors, tweezers - for minor injuries; insect repellent, sun block lotion, lip balms, water purification tablets, throat lozenges, moleskin, Sulamyd 10% eye drops, and Acetaminophen (Paracetamol, Antacid tablets) in your personal first aid kit.

When should I plan this trip?

This trip to Nepal can be planned any time of the year. However, the best season to plan this trip is either spring (March-May) or Autumn (September-November). These seasons support us with the best weather, climate, and better visibility.

What should I wear?

From May through October, lightweight clothing is recommended; however, warm garments are required if you are planning your trip sometime in between October and March. An umbrella or a raincoat is a must during the rainy season (June-August).

It is very easy to obtain Nepal’s visa. You may either apply for a visa at your nearest Nepalese Embassy/Consulate or Mission offices in your own country or you can buy this upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. To apply for a visa, you need 2 passport size photoes, Visa fees in US dollars and your passport that is valid for at least 6 months before the trip. However, nationals of SAARC countries (India, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives and Afghanistan) and China do not require any visa to visit Nepal. Transit visa for foreign nationalities is only provided for 3 days. Therefore, visa is required for longer stays. However, for the convenience or foreign nationals, a visa is also provided from the borders listed below:
