EBC trips are made in spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November). The weather is ideal, and the sky is clear enough to see the mountains in all their glory. The hike is not recommended during winter (December-February) or monsoon season (June-August).
In winter there is a lot of snow and fog, while in monsoon there is a lot of rain. During monsoon, flight cancellations and delays are also relatively high.
However, if you book a heli tour to Everest base camp, you can visit the base camp at any time of the year if the weather is pleasant.
An Everest base camp trek is usually two weeks, from your arrival and departure to and from Kathmandu. On the second day you will fly to Lukla and then trek to Phakding. Then the route goes through Namche Bazar, Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche, Gorkshep and Everest base camp.
You will climb to Kalapathar and then make your way back. Will descend via Pheriche, Namche bazaar, Lukla. You will return to Kathmandu and then depart the next day.

Mountain Magic Treks will provide a certificate of achievement.
Yes, you can also go to Everest base camp or Kala Patthar by helicopter. Similarly, you can trek to EBC and also take a helicopter back to Lukla or Kathmandu. Check out our EBC trek with helicopter return package with helicopter returns.
If it’s too much to carry from your home country some of the necessary equipment can be hired or bought in Kathmandu around Thamel as well.
Most of the equipment is general and standard lists for all seasons while on trek, but may differ as per the season and duration of trekking and areas of your chosen trip.
Eating is a big part of the holiday. Traveling with Mountain Magic Treks, you will experience the vast array of wonderful food; Nepalese, Italian, Continental, Chinese, and several local cuisines. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included in the package. Your guide will suggest delicious, hygienic, and special foods from each place during your trip. Mountain restaurant owners prefer not to order many dishes and waste food as they would like to cater to more trekkers with limited food before runoff gets stuck. It’s a week or more of hard work for porters and caravans to bring food to these places. During this trek, you will typically eat breakfast and dinner at the same lodge, with lunch at one of the trailside restaurants along the way.
A Tea House is a combination of a guest house, restaurant, and social hangout. A private room is available in most tea houses, except for high-altitude ones where it will be just dormitories. The lodges are fairly basic. The room is spare, with twin beds and very little additional furniture. Blankets are generally provided. There is a large dining hall warmed by the Bukhara stove (an iron cylinder fitted with a chimney duct, in which a log fire is lit). There is normally no electricity in the room unless the village has hydroelectric power. The dining room usually has solar lighting.
Most tea houses now also have electricity for charging small appliances—mobile phones and cameras—and there will be a small charge for this.
Mountain Magic Treks provides unlimited chlorine or lodine treated water throughout the trek. All tea houses have mineral water and boiled water for trekkers at an additional cost. We discourage the purchase of mineral water and bottled water while on the trek, as plastic bottles are difficult to dispose of and have become an environmental problem.
Mountain Magic Treks offers you complimentary route map T-shirts and duffel bags.
This is a very active trip, which means you will be on the move most of the time, so pack as lightly as possible. We provide one porter for two trekkers; your trekking gear will be carried by the porter in a duffel bag that we will provide. The maximum the porters are allowed to carry is 15 kg per person, which means 30 kg from two trekkers. Unnecessary luggage can be left at the Kathmandu hotel for free.
Please read the Gear List section of this trip notes for additional details of what you need to bring for the trek on this trip. You will need to bring a comfortable medium-sized day pack to carry the things that you will need during the day. This should have a waist strap or (better) a padded waist belt. The weather is subject to change in the mountains, so layered clothing is recommended all year round.
While some individuals seek to summit the greatest mountain on earth, it is enough for most mere mortals to simply stand at the base and experience the awesome stature of Everest from below. However, there are no roads into Everest Base Camp Trek and every person seeking to view the incredible mountain up close will need to trek through the Khumbu Valley from Lukla to Base Camp and back again-unless, of course, you can afford a helicopter!. The journey usually takes several weeks and can sometimes seem a little daunting to a novice hiker. But don't panic; it's very achievable!
The first thing to make clear is that the Everest Base Trek requires no technical climbing and is essentially a long hike. We therefore strongly believe that anyone with determination and a basic fitness level can trek the route-and all of our successful clients attest to this!. We have seen overweight, underweight, old and young do this trek, and all of them enjoyed it thoroughly.
That being said, there are a number of crucial factors to consider prior to trekking the route, such as length, altitude, and training, that will help you determine whether you think the Everest Base Camp Trek route is the right trek for you.
For everyone who plans to trek in Nepal, it is highly recommended that you get a travel insurance that covers added expenses that might result due to various health issues, injuries, or accidents (together with air ambulance, helicopter rescue, and other treatment costs). Your insurance policy should cover all the activities that you are planning to accomplish throughout your stay in Nepal. In addition to this, the policy should also cover death, misplaced luggage, theft and liability, cancellations, medical treatment (counting hospital charges, cost of medicine, doctor’s fees) as well as repatriation costs. Also, this trekking trail in Nepal takes you 5,000 m above sea level; therefore, you also need to ensure that your insurance policy covers treks that go over 5,000 m. In short, the client himself/herself has to take the responsibility for unforeseen expenses during this trip.
If you are wondering about how to obtain a Nepal visa, then the easiest way to obtain it is at the Tribhuwan International Airport upon your arrival in Nepal or else at the immigration entry point if you are entering through the border of India or Tibet.
Note: There are a few countries, namely Nigeria, Ghana, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, Somalia, Cameroon, Swaziland, Iraq, Ethiopia, Liberia, Palestine, etc. People from these countries do not get visas from the immigration entry points of Nepal.
Click here for the application form:
If you are thinking of getting a visa at the airport or immigration entry point, the following are your requirements: A valid passport (with a validity period of at least six months)You should fill out the application form for a visa, available at airports or immigration entry points. Two passport-size photos
If you want to extend your visa for 15 days or less, the visa extension charge is USD 30 or equivalent convertible currency.
If you want to extend the visa for more than 15 days, USD 2 will be charged per day after 15 days. However, the visa can be extended for a maximum of 150 days in a visa year (the year beginning in January and ending in December).
When a foreigner has to get down at a Nepalese airport as a result of his/her transit point or due to any force landing for whatever reason, the foreigner can obtain a transit visa for a day after paying USD 5 or any other currency equivalent.
Spring (March, April and May) and autumn (September, October and November) are the best times of the year to visit Nepal. During this time, the weather is pleasant with efficient sunlight and warmth. The sky is clear, which means that you can truly enjoy the remarkable Nepalese landscape, complete with the Himalayan vista.
During the monsoon (June-August), although there will be no problem for trekking, there could be less visibility and rain. But for a keen botanist, the monsoon is a blessing as the higher valleys, mountains, and meadows blossom with flowers and abundant vegetation. You can trek in winter (December, January, February) as well, especially in the hilly regions, but as you reach higher elevations it is much colder with snowfall. If you don’t necessarily enjoy crowds, trekking during the monsoon or winter or choosing a more solitary trekking destination could be your options. Note that due to global warming, there has been a change in the regular climate worldwide and Nepal is no exception. Please be open to unpredictable weather conditions as well.
This is a high altitude journey and the elevation starts from a low of 2810 m to 5,545 m, where symptoms of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) might occur due to dry air and less oxygen, as our adventure starts with a flight to Lukla and overnight stops at Phakding in a nice and cozy local lodge, which provides you with acclimatization as well as a rest day at Namche Bazaar before heading much higher altitude for the Everest Base Camp Trek. On this trip, one needs to be in good physical shape with sound health to avoid other medical complications en route. Just follow our guide; he will give advice and suggestions that keep and make you feel secure to enjoy this fabulous adventure with us.
The weather depends upon the season of trekking in the Everest Himalayan belts, where Everest Trek can be visited all year round. However, the monsoon months of July to mid September will be wet but much greener with heavy moisture.
The best time will be from March to May when wild flowers are in full bloom around Phakding and Namche Bazaar at 2,000 m to 3,000 m high and then tree lines and vegetation decline for rough arctic terrain. The temperature will be 15 to 20 degrees Celsius during the day with sunlight. The morning and evening can be much cooler with a minimum of -0 to 05 degrees Celsius, not counting the wind chill factors.
As the trek leads higher above 4,000 m, the temperature drops in the shade as well in the morning and night time. The day will be clear with strong sunlight and UV (due to the drop in oxygen and air pressure at high elevation), where you need a strong sun screen to avoid sunburn in direct sunlight. The clearest weather will be with short days and a minimum of -5 to -10 degrees Celsius in the morning and night, with a maximum of 15-20 degrees Celsius during the day in full sunlight. This also depends upon the altitude and areas of trekking.
The coldest months from December to March will be the coldest with chances of snow with a minimum of -10 to -15 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 15–18 degrees Celsius without wind chill factor. However, most of the day time will be clear with a fine blue sky.
The main flow of foreign visitors in Nepal is for trekking, from moderate to adventurous or challenging treks. The most important thing is to choose the right trip as per your duration of holiday and fitness. For the Everest Himalayan trekking adventure, one needs to be in sound health and physically fit.

Phurba is a very experience guide, helpful, friendly and always attentive to clients needs. We stayed in some of the best lodges on the way to EBC and our porter was always the first to arrive and arrange the better rooms.
Phurba advises, briefings and adjustments on route were essential to adapt to acclimatization and make the trek to EBC and incredible and successful trip.

Best Guide You Could Choose!!
Rewati is an absolutely incredible knowledgeable, and efficient guide. He went above and beyond to make sure that I had an amazing trip from the time I met him until I boarded my flight. I went to Nepal by myself and only had a small amount of time to explore. Rewati planned out my entire time along the trek and I could not have been any happier! Along the trek Rewati was giving other guides advice on where to stay/eat and even helped out another guide who was on EBC get his clients who were sick life flighted out. Needless to stay he knows what he is doing and is the safest person you could choose as your guide! In addition he was incredibly flexible with the plans and has lots of friends along the treks. He was able to coordinate two drivers to get us off the mountain back into town while another friend I met took a bus and was car sick the entire time (3hrs). If you are going to Nepal Mountain Magic Treks is the absolute best and I would recommend to everyone!!

Everest Base Camp, the trip of a life time!
we made it to Everest Base Camp and loved the entire trip. Mountain Magic Treks played a pivotal role in making this such a great adventure. The guides they found for us made all the difference in the world.
Our guide, Mahan is remarkable! I can tell he knew what makes a great adventure even better. He knew every mountain and its specifications, he knew all the local culture and customs and explained them so clearly, he knew what to suggest and what to avoid, he completely understands customer service, his English was amazing, he knew all the right people to get the special orders or service, and he knew the little extras that made it special. Most impressive is who he is, Mahan is kind, patient, humble, helpful, FUN, bright, eager, careful, encouraging, and consistent.
Kapil, our assistant guide was always out front keeping the perfect pace and making sure we were safe and enjoyed the journey. Both the guides and my son had a blast together laughing, singing, sharing and playing around.
There is no way to perfectly describe the views you will see on this journey from the lush green and magical waterfalls of the lower section to the powerful majestic views of the mountains and vistas of the upper section.
This trip will change your life and this country and its people will steal a piece of your soul.
We truly feel like we made a long-lasting friend in Nepal, which made our trek even more special. We highly recommend Mountain Magic Treks!
Thank you Rewati Parajuli for organizing such a wonderful adventure!

Best adventure team in Nepal!!
My partner and I had no trekking experience before booking our vacation with Mountain Magic, all we knew was that we wanted to see the Everest region and eventually make it to Mount Everest Base Camp Budget Trek.
I was researching the company's website and asked a few questions in the chat function they have on their website, to which I got quick and clear answers. Communication then moved to email, where again I received prompt, clear, very professional and friendly responses. They had multiple payment options which was very nice as we were overseas when booking the trip.
Upon arrival at the airport, our mountain guide (his name was Kesap) warmly greeted us and escorted us to our hotel. The next day, Kesap and we started our journey through the Everest region. We were with Kesap for 11 days and he was absolutely brilliant. I personally fell ill with food poisoning on our previous trip to India a few days before arriving in Nepal. And my partner had mild altitude sickness. However, thanks to Kesap, his excellent optimism, knowledge and helpfulness, we both made it safely to base camp and back.
Upon our return to Kathmandu, we were taken to a final dinner and then left the country. From arrival in Nepal to departure, Mountain Magic took great care of us and we are two very satisfied customers, returning on a great trip that we would definitely recommend to others.

Bucket list Everest Base Camp Trek!
’ve just completed the 11 days EBC Trek.
The company (Rewati was my main contact; Khem was my trekking guide; Arjun was my Porter) has provided incredibly thoughtful service throughout my trip which is a big cherry on top of this trip of a lifetime.
From the start, Rewati expertly organized and accompanied me on all trips to and from the airport, leaving me with little logistics to worry about. He was quick to respond to my questions and concerns during the planning phase and offered valuable travel advice based on his experience that saved me from potential troubles.
Khem, my trekking guide, was an absolute gem. His wealth of knowledge and captivating stories about the mountains, Nepalese culture, and Sherpa lifestyle enhanced my experience beyond measure. He consistently went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and satisfaction, securing rooms with breathtaking views and providing fresh fruit after dinner. Khem was not only a reliable guide but also a great friend and companion. We spent hours playing card games together, teaching each other local favorites (if you are from hk, you should find Khem cause he can play big 2 now very competently;)) and even introduced me to his friends on the mountains, making me feel like a part of the community.
Overall, I am incredibly grateful to have had such a thoughtful, competent, and fun team to accompany me on this journey. And I will recommend them to anyone who’s interested in trekking in Nepal and I myself also hope to return one day for another trek!
