Meals

Eating is a big part of the Holiday. Traveling with Mountain Magic Treks, you experience the vast array of wonderful food Nepalese, Italian, Continental, Chinese, and several local cuisines. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are included in the package. Your guide will suggest delicious, hygienic and each place special food during your trip. Mountain restaurant owner prefers not to order many dishes and waste food as they would like to cater more trekkers with limited food before runoff stuck. It’s a week or more day’s hard works to Porters and caravans to bring food to these places. During this trek you will usually have breakfast and dinner at the same Lodge, Lunch will be eaten at one of the trail side restaurants on route.

Accommodation

A Tea House is a combination of a guest house, restaurant, and social hang out. A private room is available in most tea houses, except for high altitudes ones where it will be just dormitories. The Lodges are fairly basic. The room is spare with twin beds and very little additional furniture. Blankets are generally provided. There is a large dining hall warmed by the Bukhara stove (an iron cylinder, fitted with a chimney duct, in which a log fire is lighted. There is normally no electric lighting in the room unless the village has hydroelectric power. The dining room usually has solar lighting.
Most tea houses now also have electricity for charging small appliances- mobile phones and cameras- and there will be a small charge for this.

Drinking water

Mountain Magic Treks provides unlimited chlorine/lodine treated water the trek. All tea houses have mineral water and boiled water for trekkers upon additional cost. We discourage the purchase of mineral water and bottled water while on the trek as plastic bottles and difficult to dispose of and have become an environmental problem.

 Route Map

Mountain Magic Treks offers you complementary route map T-short and duffel bags

What to take for Trekking

This is a very active trip, it means you will be on the move most of the time, so pack as lightly as possible. We provided one porter for two trekkers; your trekking gear will be carried by the porter in a duffel bag that we will provide. The maximum the porters are allowed to carry 15 kg per trekker means 30 kg from two trekkers. Unnecessary luggage can be left in Kathmandu Hotel and its free of cost.

Important to note

Please read the Gear list section of this trip notes for additional details of what you need to bring for the trek on this trip. You will need to bring a comfortable medium sized day pack to carry the things that you will need during the day. This should have a waist strap or (batter) a padded waist belt. The weather is subject to change in the mountains so layered clothing is recommended all around the year.

Difficulty

Whilst some individuals seek to summit the greatest mountain on earth, it is enough for most mere mortals to simply stand at the base and experience the awesome stature of Everest from below. However, there are no roads into Everest Base Camp Trek and every person seeking to view the incredible mountain up close will need to trek through the Khumbu Valley from Lukla to Base Camp and back again - unless, of course, you can afford a helicopter!. The journey usually takes several weeks and can sometimes seem a little daunting to a novice hiker. But don't panic, it's very achievable!

The first thing to make clear is that the Everest Base Camp Trek  requires no technical climbing and is essentially a long hike. We therefore strongly believe that anyone with determination and a basic fitness level can trek the route - and all of our successful clients attest to this!. We have seen overweight, underweight, old and young do this trek and all of them enjoyed it thoroughly.

That being said, there are a number of crucial factors to consider prior to trekking the route such as length, altitude and training that will help you determine whether you think the Everest Base Camp Trek route is the right trek for you.

Travel Insurance:

For everyone who will plan to Trek in Nepal, it is highly recommended that you get a travel insurance that covers added expenses that might result due to various health issues, injuries or accidents (together with air ambulance, helicopter rescue and other treatment cost). Your insurance policy should cover up your entire activities that you are planning to accomplish throughout your stay in Nepal. In addition to this, the policy should also cover death, misplaced luggage, theft and liability, cancellations, medical treatment (counting hospital charges, cost of the medicine, doctor’s fees) as well as repatriation cost. Also, this trekking trail in Nepal take you of 5,000 m above the altitude, therefore, you also need to ensure that your insurance policy covers treks that go over 5,000 m. In short, its client himself/herself has to take the responsibility regarding unforeseen expenses during this trip.

Nepal Visa

If you are wondering about how to obtain Nepal visa, then the easiest way to obtain it is at the Tribhuwan International Airport upon your arrival in Nepal or else at the immigration entry point if you are entering through the border of India or Tibet.

Note: There are few countries namely Nigeria, Ghana, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, Somalia, Cameroon, Swaziland, Iraq, Ethiopia, Liberia, Palestine, etc. People from these countries do not get visa from the immigration entry points of Nepal.)

What do you need to obtain Nepal visa

Nepal Entry Application Download PDF

If you are thinking of taking visa at the airport or immigration entry point, following are your requirements: A valid passport (The passport should have validity of at least six months) You should fill the application form for visa available at airport or immigration entry points. Two passport size photos

Visa Extension:

If you want to extend visa for 15 days or less, visa extension charge is USD 30 or equivalent convertible currency
If you want to extend the visa for more than 15 days, USD 2 will be charged per day after 15 days. However, the visa can be extended maximum up to 150 days in a visa year (Visa year refers to year starting January to December).

Transit Visa:

When a foreigner has to get down at Nepalese airport as a result of his/her transit point or due to any force landing for whatever the reason, the foreigner can obtain transit visa for a day after paying USD 5 or any other currency equivalent.

 Best time to visit Nepal:

Spring (March, April & May) and autumn (September, October and November) are the best time of the year to visit Nepal. During this time, the weather is pleasant with efficient sunlight and warmth. The sky is clear which means that you can truly enjoy the remarkable Nepalese landscape complete with the Himalayan vista.
During the monsoon (June-August) although there will be no problem for trekking, the issue could be of less visibility and rain. But for a keen botanist, monsoon is a blessing as the higher valleys, mountains and meadows blossom with flowers and abundant vegetation. You can trek in winter (December, January, February) as well especially in the hilly regions but as you reach higher elevations it is much more colder with snow- fall. If you don’t necessary enjoy crowds, trekking during the monsoon or winter or choosing more solitary trekking destination could be your options. Note that due to global warming there has been a change in the regular climate worldwide and Nepal is no exception. Please be open to unpredictable weather conditions as well

High Altitude:

This is a high altitude journey and elevation starts from low 2810 m to 5,545 m high, where symptoms of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) might occur due to dry air and less oxygen, as our adventure starts with flight to Lukla and  overnight stops at Phakding in nice and cozy local lodge, which provides you with acclimatization as well with rest day at Namche Bazaar before heading much higher altitude for Gokyo Clola Pass Trek.In this trip one needs to be in good physical shape with sound health to avoid other medical complication on route the journey, just follow our guide he will advice and suggestion which keeps and makes you feel secure to enjoy this fabulous adventure with us.

Weather & Climate

The weather depending upon the season of trekking in Everest Himalayan belts, where's Everest Trek can be visited all time of the year, however monsoon months of July to mid September will be wet but much greener with heavy moistures.
The best time will be from March to May when wild flowers are in full bloom around Phakding and Namche Bazaar in 2,000 m to 3,000 m high and then tree lines and vegetation declines for rough arctic terrain, the temperature will be 15 to 20 degree Celsius during the day with sunlight, morning and evening can be much cooler with minimum of -0 to 05 degree Celsius not counting the wind chill factors.

As the trek leads higher above 4,000 m temperature drops in the shade as well in the morning and night time, day will be clear with strong sunlight and UV (due to drop in oxygen and air pressure on high elevation) , where you need strong sun screen to avoid sun burn in direct sunlight.Mid September to December will be the clearest weather but with short days minimum of -05 to -10 degree Celsius in the morning and night time with maximum of 15-20 degree during the day in full sunlight, also depends upon the altitude and areas of trekking.

December to March will be the coldest months with chances of snows with minimum of -10 to -15 degree Celsius with maximum 15-18 degree Celsius without wind chill factor, however most of the day time will be clear with fine blue sky.
