Along your trek, you can see various carved stones called ‘Mane’ and ‘Chortan’, which hold religious significance for Buddhists.

On the way, you will see panoramic views of mountain peaks like Mahalangur Himal, Pumori, Lingtrain, and Khumbutse. When you reach Lobuche, it will be almost evening because a slow pace is always best, so we will spend our night in Lobuche waiting to reach Everest Base Camp (5,364m / 17,598ft) the next day.

On our ninth day, you will reach your dream destination; Everest Base Camp. For the mission first, we will say goodbye to Lobuche and go to Gorakshep. You are likely to need a quick helicopter flight back to Kathmandu to avoid a health emergency, so adequate insurance is a must. Insurance should cover high altitude helicopter rescue and medical evacuation expenses. We need your insurance documents before you start your EBC trek.

Food during the Everest Base Camp Trek

You'll be hiking considerable distances at high altitude, so you'll need food rich in protein, carbohydrates, and other nutrients. Food is readily available on trek routes, but you don't have all the options you get in big cities.
There will be 10 breakfasts, 10 lunches, and 9 dinners on the trek.
Some of the popular menu items are:
Ten Breakfast: French toast with oatmeal, corn flakes, jam, butter, cheese, and honey Tibetan bread or chapati, local tsampa porridge, knife brown eggs, assorted eggs (omelette), pancakes, muesli bread, fruit and vegetables, and a hot drink Substances: different types of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, etc.
Ten Meals: Lentils, Rice, and Vegetables, Tibetan Bread, Various Soup Items, Sherpa Stew Sticks, Sandwiches, Momo (Dumplings), Macaroni Dishes, Tenduk, Spaghetti Noodles, Thukpa, Pasta, Vegetable Curry, Potatoes, Salads, Pizza (T), mixed), snacks (papad, prawns), sweet items (rice pudding, apple pie, etc.), etc.

Nine dinners: dal (lentil), bhat (rice), and vegetable curry; Tibetan bread; various soup items; Sherpa stew; steak; sandwiches; momo (dumplings); macaroni dishes; tenduk; spaghetti noodles; thukpa; pasta; vegetables. Curry, potato items, vegetables, salads, pizza (tomato, mushroom, mixed), snacks, papad, shrimp, Korean ramen, dessert items (rice pudding, apple pie), steaks, etc.
We select the best hotels, lodges, and restaurants where the food is fresh, clean, tasty, and nutritious. Most menus include local, Asian, or popular Western cuisine. As we gain altitude, the menu items available become fewer and fewer.

We recommend high-altitude fresh vegetables along with liquids: green tea, lemon tea, hot lemon, ginger tea, and garlic soup (a must). Although many non-vegetarian items will be available, we do not recommend them as the meat in such places is not hygienic.
We highly encourage you to stay away from dairy and cheese items and strongly advise you not to consume alcoholic beverages, caffeinated items, or hot chocolates, as experts suggest avoiding such items during high-altitude treks.
All personal bills (alcoholic drinks, hot (tea, coffee), and cold drinks) are excluded from the package, except for standard meals (breakfast, lunch, meals with seasonal fruits) at tea houses, lodges, or cafes.

The best time for a Short Everest Base Camp Trek in Nepal

Weather is the deciding factor for the Everest base camp trek. Although you can get a live forecast of Everest base camp here, it is not 100% accurate. Considering the weather, spring and autumn are the best seasons for Everest base camp treks.

However, local and professional trekkers reach Everest Base Camp throughout the year, and Mountain Magic Treks conducts Everest Base Camp treks in all seasons.

January-February

The weather at this time is the coldest throughout January and into early February. The days are moderately hot, but the nights are cool, and you can expect lots of snow. If you are allergic to colds, we advise you to stay away from your trek during this season.
Temperature: 15°C to -15°C

March–April

It is the perfect season to climb to Everest Base Camp. The weather starts to warm, the sky clears, and you'll enjoy spectacular views. In mid-March, the temperature is moderate, but it is comfortable.
Temperature: 18 °C to -12 °C

May–June

The months of May and June offer the best opportunity to trek to Everest Base Camp. However, to avoid the rain, you need to do the trek before the end of June. The temperature is quite warm, and you should be able to enjoy the trek during these months.
Temperature: 25°C to -5°C

July–August

The rains reach their peak during this time, and Lukla flights are likely to be canceled or delayed. Still, many trekkers trek to Everest Base Camp during this time, and Mountain Magic Treks conducts Everest Base Camp treks during these months.
Temperature: 27°C to 5°C

September–October

This is one of the best seasons for an EBC trek, and it's no wonder that a large number of thrill seekers trek to Everest Base Camp during these months. The sky is clear and offers great views of snow-capped mountains, landscapes, and lush vegetation. This is also the time when Nepalis celebrate their most important festivals, so if you trek during this time, you will also witness Hindu festivals.
Temperature: 20°C to 5°C

November–December

Snow begins to fall during these months as winter slowly sets in. The nights begin to cool. However, early November offers the best time to visit Mount Everest, as the skies are clear and the scenery is unspoiled. From December on, the temperature drops and brings more snowfall.
Temperature: 18°C to -10°C

Everest Base Camp Trek Trip Grade: Fitness Level and Health Advice

The Short Everest Base Camp Trek takes you to Everest Base Camp, but there are no scheduled acclimatization and exploration days. We will spend three nights above 4,000 meters, and the hike will take us to the 5,545-meter Kala Patthar viewpoint.
We recommend this trek to those with high-altitude trekking experience, good health with general physical fitness, a positive attitude, plenty of self-confidence, and strong determination. You need to be able to walk five to seven hours per day for ten days.

Trekking at high altitudes is physically demanding. Not only does this trek take you to high altitudes, but the path is rugged with rocky hills and steep climbs and descents. However, no technical experience or skills are required.
Exercising and jogging regularly a few weeks before the start of the trek will increase your stamina and allow you to enjoy the trek to the fullest. Trekkers with pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lung, and blood diseases should inform us of their condition or consult a doctor before booking.

However, there is no need to worry about your safety; Mountain Magic Treks provides experienced guides with extensive first aid training. They will continuously monitor your oxygen level to detect altitude sickness very early. Furthermore, we have designed itineraries in such a way as to avoid altitude sickness.
In cases of severe altitude sickness, the only treatment is to descend immediately. Your trek leader has the final authority to decide if a person in your team shows symptoms of altitude sickness.

Can I trek to Everest Base Camp alone?

We organize group and private treks. Group discounts are available based on the size of your team. The bigger your team, the more discounts you get. Please see our price list for details. However, no team discounts are available for teams assembled by Mountain Magic Treks.
That being said, we can handle all group sizes and can add an assistant guide for groups of six or more.

A typical day during the Everest Base Camp Short Trek Package

Each day brings new places to see, new routes to hike, and opportunities to explore and learn. Our Sherpa guides will inform you about the places you are visiting. You don't have to worry about your luggage; our porters will carry it for you. However, keep your essentials in a regular daypack and carry them yourself to keep them safe.

We will provide you with three standard meals a day: breakfast between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m., lunch after three or four hours of walking, and dinner around 7.30 p.m. You will rest for an hour after lunch. After reaching your destination for the day, you will have some time to explore the nearby places. After dinner and before bed, you'll have plenty of time to socialize.

Your trek leader or guide will also brief you about the next day's plan every day after dinner. There are other options for fun, such as playing cards, Monopoly, reading books, or watching mountaineering documentaries. If you are interested in learning Nepali words, our team members can teach you as much as you want.

Is Wi-Fi enabled while trekking to Everest Base Camp?

Almost all the lodges and hotels you stay at offer Wi-Fi for a small service charge. However, at higher altitudes, we will only communicate by phone. On each day of your trek, the Mountain Magic Treks office will be in touch with the team through the team leaders. If you want, you can easily buy a Nepali SIM card in Kathmandu.
You can get Wi-Fi access in hotels and lodges for a small fee.

Additional personal expenses on the trek

You will need extra money for food and accommodation in Kathmandu.
Visa fee and travel insurance policy purchase
Beverages (hot tea and coffee), drinks, cold drinks, alcoholic drinks, snacks
Tips for the crew
Souvenirs and other personal expenses

We recommend you bring cash (dollars or other major currencies), which you can easily exchange for Nepali Rupees in Kathmandu. Please note that only Nepali rupees are accepted in Nepal.
Electricity to recharge. drinking water

During your ten-day trek to Everest Base Camp, you can recharge your batteries at hotels or lodges for a small fee. Similarly, you can buy packed mineral water from shops, lodges, or hotels, or fill your hotel with boiled water bottles. Mountain Magic Treks offers water purification tablets for protection.

You should not drink water from rivers, streams, or wells because you cannot be sure of the purity of the water.

Travel Insurance for the Everest Base Camp Trek
Trekking insurance is mandatory for the EBC trek.

All trekkers must provide a copy of their comprehensive travel insurance policy certificate to Mountain Magic Treks. The policy should cover medical and emergency repatriation at high altitude (up to 6000 m), along with helicopter rescue and evacuation expenses.

If you wish, Mountain Magic Treks can recommend insurance providers for you based on feedback from previous clients. However, we are not travel insurance sellers. We request that all our valued customers send their insurance documents to Mountain Magic Treks once they book the trek.
In case of an emergency, we will use your insurance and informational documents for a quick rescue operation. Your insurance should cover mountain rescue services at high altitude (6000m).

Before buying travel insurance (don't rely on their website), call the insurance company and ask if your coverage includes helicopter rescue and evacuation at altitudes up to 6000m.

Nepal Travel Visa Application

All travelers, except those of Indian nationality, require a visa to enter Nepal. Citizens of most countries get an on-arrival visa at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). You can get more information about visas at https://www.immigration.gov.np/.

To get an on-arrival visa, you need a passport that is valid for at least six months, a passport-size photograph, and a visa fee. The current visa fee is USD 50 for 30 days, and you can pay in cash at the TIA.
Citizens of China and SAARC countries will get free visas. Citizens of certain countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine, and Afghanistan, may not be eligible for an on-arrival visa. Therefore, citizens of these countries should contact the local Nepalese embassy.

Currency exchange in Nepal

The Nepalese Rupee (NPR or Rs) is the national currency.
(1 USD = about 110–125 NPR)
You can exchange major foreign currencies at local banks and legitimate money exchanges in Kathmandu and all over Thamel. Some hotels may exchange small amounts of cash. The ongoing currency exchange is visibly displayed on legal money exchanges. Only Indian Rupee notes (INR 100 and INR 2000) are accepted in Nepal.

We recommend you bring cash so you don't have to go through the long process at the banks, and they will charge commissions on top.

You can withdraw cash (in rupees only) from many ATMs in Kathmandu and Thamel. Most ATMs are open 24 hours a day, and if you're using a foreign card, the maximum withdrawal amount is Rs 35,000 for a Rs 500 processing fee.
Once you are on the trek, there are no banks or money exchanges available except in Lukla and Namche Bazaar. So to be on the safe side, exchange your money in Kathmandu before starting the trek. Only Nepali Rupees are accepted in the mountains.
Most established banks in Asia do not honor old, torn, or found foreign currency, so be sure to bring new clear notes.

Additional days for inclement weather

Mountain Magic Treks can arrange a helicopter, but it will cost between USD 500 and USD 1000, depending on availability. If there are no flight delays, you may have dozens of options to pass the time.
Please note that the Everest Base Camp Short Trek includes a fixed date of departure from Kathmandu. Can we fix the flight date as per your request and schedule? Please review your scheduled departure date and let us know if the time does not suit you. We can rearrange a trek at your convenience.

The itinerary listed above is a general guideline and may require modification due to external factors beyond our control, such as unstable weather, unavailability of lodges and campsites, unexpected government orders, trail conditions, etc.

If it is necessary to adjust the itinerary, the decision of the trek leader will be final. Trek leaders will make decisions keeping in mind the interests of all team members.

Rewati Parajuli and the team at Mountain Magic Treks went above and beyond to ensure our group had an amazing time. Everything was professional, communication was timely which ensured our group could focus on having an adventurous vacation. From the guides, porters and staff we never faced any problem during our time trekking.

The booking process was easy and Rewati was always available to answer any questions or provide any assistance needed. I would like to give a special mention to our guide and assistant guide who were excellent. I have trekked the Everest region and toured with other companies before but would not hesitate to book with Mountain Magic Treks after this trip.

In summary, the entire process and experience from booking to arrival and then our visit was flawless which is a huge credit to Revathi and team. Thanks again, we'll be back soon :)

Rewati and the team at Mountain Magic Treks did an amazing job with our Everest Base Camp Short in Nepal. You should choose EBC Trek and Helicopter return back to Kathmandu for your lifetime experiance. Rewati was always very responsive and easy to work with, and everything was handled professionally for us once we arrived in Kathmandu.

We were very impressed with our guide Khem and our porters, Bibek and Khem. Kamal managed the trek expertly, and was always concerned about our health and well-being. Also, the entire team was very friendly, and fun to be around. Actually this trip itinerary is comfortable and risk free of altitude sickness. Mr Rewati was helpfull he provided another low budget trip package and itinerary (Helicopter flight from gorakshep to Lukla only and commercial flight back to Kathmandu) but because of our limited time, we did directly helicopter flight to Kathmandu and it was amazing experiance.

Highly recommended Rewati and Mountain Magic Treks Team!!

My husband and I chose Mountain Magic Treks as our trekking company for a Everest Base Camp Short Trek with helicopter Return in the first week of November 2022. Everything was perfect, even before arrival, the owner Revathi always surprised me with her quick answers to any of our queries.
And was very helpful from the start. After we arrived in Kathmandu we were picked up by our guide Khem, who is an absolute star! He made us feel like family right from the start, very caring and always looking out for our well being.

We are already planning to come back for the Gokyo trek and we definitely want Khem as our guide! With a big smile on his face at every moment, he was just the best guide you could have for this amazing experience! Khem is very experienced and I cannot express enough how grateful we are to have chosen him as our guide.  He knew exactly how to get us to our goal!! Also, Kumar, our porter, he was amazing, such a lovely person, and we were always in awe of his speed running up and down the hills. We had an amazing time, if you are thinking of trekking in Nepal, go with Mountain Magic Treks and you will have an experience of a lifetime that you will never forget.

Mountain Magic Treks was amazing. Highly recommend for any trek they offer. Revathi is dedicated to making sure you have a wonderful experience. Our guide, Khem, was very helpful in any situation that came up during the trek and really looked after our group. All the porters were very fun and energetic. Our journey would not have been the same without them.

Brilliant trek to EBC and return back to Kathmandu by helicopter flight - Highly Recommended
After Covid, we finally got the opportunity to visit Nepal Trekking in November 2022. We have chosen the Everest Base camp Short Trek package which offered a helicopter return back to Kathmandu from Gorakshep after we reach EBC. The hike itself was amazing, an amazing part of the world with compelling views and that "big mountain" feel throughout. And the Nepali people were incredibly warm and always welcoming. The organization of the trek at Mountain Magic Treks was exemplary, everything was exactly as promised and the whole thing worked incredibly smoothly, leaving us to focus on making the most of our time in the Himalayas. Rewati, the owner of the company, was very helpful and responsive before we arrived in Nepal and while we were there. Highly recommended Rewati and Mountain Magic Treks Team

Fascinating trip to Everest Base Camp Short Trek with helicopter return!
My Everest trekking mission accomplished! I am happy with the trekking and helicopter service provided by Mountain Magic Treks. Since our conversation began; They are a friendly, professional, and experienced team, solving problems quickly, finding the best solution services during the tour (domestic flight was changed to a helicopter for Lukla), and providing constant support (quick WhatsApp response from Rewati).

The Mountain Magic Treks team has strong local ties on the ground. We need an extra porter. Rewati quickly called from Kathmandu and arranged one. We can rest and complete the trek with proper local assistance. (Also got extra blankets at the guesthouse) This experience was definitely one of the most enjoyable and very well guided trips.
Highly recommended Rewati and Mountain Magic Treks Team

Excellent choice
Paradise Himalaya was an excellent choice. Kamal and Keshap did a good job. They answered all our questions. As the day of trekking approached, we asked a lot of questions. Rewati also came to meet us at the airport. We were safely shifted to a hotel in Thamel. He explained everything about the trekking and left us with a trek leader, he was friendly, experienced and knowledgeable . The leader then explained our further plans. Next day we left for Lukla. The flight experience was great and gave us the thrill of flying in the clouds over the mountains. Then met the porter in Lukla. Our journey to Phakding had already begun.
We then proceeded to Namche, Dingboche, Tengboche, Gorkshep and finally Everest Base Camp. I don't know if I missed some destination names in between and also mistyped some spellings. Anyway, we had a very enjoyable trekking. We also spent relaxing days visiting Sherpa villages. After reaching Everest base camp then we flued back by helicopter tour from Gorakshep to Kathmandu. It would be a perfect choice (Helicopter Return flight)

We made the most of the day and went to the nice restaurants in Thamel. Both Keshap and Kamal accompanied us and guided us through the mall and traditional shops. We got pashmina clothes for our family here in USA. The trekking and helicopter return was the best time of our lives. Thank you Mountain Magic Treks for planning and guiding Everest Base Camp Short Trek and helicopter return flight from Gorakshep to Kathmandu. If you are also planning an Everest Trek choose the Everest Base Camp Short Trek package which includes Helicopter return from Gorakshep to Kathmandu and Trek with Mountain Magic Treks Team will be a perfect choice.

Unforgettable experience Everest Base Camp Short Trek with Mountain Magic Treks Team!

The Everest Base Camp Short Trek with a helicopter return from the base camp to Lukla just completed with Mountain Magic Treks was an incredible experience. The company was professional and organized from the start, and the guides and staff were friendly, knowledgeable and made the trek a truly memorable one.

The helicopter ride from Gorakshep to Lukla was smooth and the views of the surrounding mountains were breathtaking. From Lukla, the trek to Gorakshep was relatively hard, and the guides were great at explaining the culture and way of life of the Sherpa people. The views of the surrounding mountains were spectacular, and we were able to see peaks such as Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Mount Everest and Lhotse along the way.

The highlight of the trek was visiting the base camp of Mount Everest and Kala Patthar viewpoint. The hike to base camp was strenuous but the views of the surrounding peaks and the base camp itself were well worth the effort. The Kala Patthar viewpoint offered a similar experience but with less effort. The guides were very helpful in explaining the history and significance of the base camp and providing information on the surrounding peaks.

The accommodation and food throughout the trek were excellent. The lodges were clean and comfortable, and the food was delicious, particularly the traditional Sherpa dishes. The staff at the lodges were also very friendly and accommodating.

The helicopter return from the base camp to Lukla was a great way to end the trek. It was a unique and exciting experience, and the views of the mountains were even more breathtaking from the helicopter.

Overall, the Everest Base Camp Short Trek 11 days itinerary is perfect from arrival to departure from Kathmandu. Join with Mountain Magic Treks for low budget trekking and meet the professional team to get unforgettable experience. The company was professional and organized, the guides were knowledgeable and friendly, and the views of the surrounding mountains were spectacular. I would highly recommend this trek and this company to anyone looking to experience the beauty of the EverestTrekking

Best Travel Company Ever!

This company was amazing! Can't say enough good things about the staff and our overall experience. You are literally treated like family! My friend and I haven't hiked much before but decided to do Everest Base Camp Short Trek. We did it!!!!... Helicopter flight was amazing after reaching EBC, from Gorakshep to Kathmandu. Thanks to this company! Shiva, our guide was awesome! We spend a lot of time with your guide so someone who is funny, kind and above all patient makes it easy for you, let's face it, EBC isn't easy so every little bit counts.
Our porter was great and we were amazed that both of our items traveled faster than us, he deserves so much credit! It was our first time in Nepal so we didn't have much planned after EBC, but Rewati arranged tours while we were there and we saw more than we thought we would include in our trip to Chitwan. Amazing! Without them, we would be lost!
I highly recommend that you book your adventure through this company, you won't regret it. We had a lot of fun. We will recommend Mountain Magic Treks to everyone we meet and will definitely use them for our next trip to Nepal. Thanks again Shiva, Rewati and Kesab for an unforgettable trip, we miss you already!
