We usually recommend this trek for families as well but planning and cons ng ahead of time with professionals plays a very important role for a successful trek. Trust Mountain Magic Treks for all your Everest treks as we stand by all means to fulfill your wishes.

What is the weather like in the Everest region

The climate in the Everest region varies from season to season. The Himalayan region is never hot, not even in summer. Maximum temperatures during the day reach 25°C/77°F while at night it drops to -20°C/-4°F or even lower.

Can I prevent altitude on a trek? how

There are a few things to keep in mind if you plan to conquer Everest Base Camp without any problems related to altitude sickness. Here are some tips from our experienced guides and trip planners to avoid altitude sickness during the Everest Base Camp trek.

Slow climb with proper rest and adequate acclimatization

  • Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated
  • Eat adequate and balanced meals
  • Avoid alcohol, cigarettes, tobacco throughout the trek
  • Be strong and mentally prepared
  • Train your body to cope with the uphill trek with adequate cardio or gym workouts 3 months before start the Trek
Should I take Dimox on this trek

Yes, you must take diamox on this trek. Diamox is intended to prevent altitude sickness but not to cure its symptoms. When symptoms begin to appear, your only option will be to descend to a lower altitude.

What are the first symptoms of altitude sickness on a hike

Usually, the first symptoms begin to appear 12-24 hours after arriving at high altitude. Different levels of altitude sickness have different symptoms. Symptoms of mild, short-term altitude sickness include dizziness, fatigue, loss of appetite, trouble sleeping, loss of energy, and shortness of breath

Do I need oxygen on the trek

P. In general, oxygen is not required for the trek and it is our itinerary that is designed in such a way that it allows for substantial improvement. In addition, we provide the drug Diamox to prevent early onset of symptoms to prevent overreaction. However, in the event of a severe elevation, we immediately descend to a lower altitude.

There is electricity and Wi-Fi access on-route

During your trek, electricity is available to recharge your phones, laptops, iPads with micro-hydropower and solar panels on a pay-as-you-go basis. As for Wi-Fi, there are no hotspots on the trekking trail after Namche

Starbucks Coffee in Lukla and Everest Bakery in Namche are the only two places that offer free Wi-Fi. In other places higher up, you have to pay to use internet services, which increases gradually with altitude.

How emergencies are dealt with in the mountains

Mountain Magic Treks has a competent team of trekking leaders and mountain crews who are highly skilled to deal with the difficulties or any kind of emergency that may arise during the trek.

If you feel sick with altitude, the first place you should inform your leader about it so that he knows what to do. With all the years of experience, he can sense the severity of the situation and react accordingly, either by bringing you down to a lower altitude or using a helicopter to rescue you.

If the helicopter is unable to fly for some reason, we will use our local staff and contacts to coordinate alternative rescue and treatment procedures, which may mean using a horse or stretcher to carry the sick person down the mountain to the nearest health post. Safe helicopter landing site.

Do I need crampons for this trek

Generally, crampons are not required for this trek if you are trekking in season. But if you want to trek in mid-winter or monsoon season, crampons may be necessary. You never really know what conditions you will encounter on the trekking trail until you get there, so it is better to keep your crampons and not use them if needed.

Difficulty

Whilst some individuals seek to summit the greatest mountain on earth, it is enough for most mere mortals to simply stand at the base and experience the awesome stature of Everest from below. However, there are no roads into Everest Base Camp Trekking and every person seeking to view the incredible mountain up close will need to trek through the Khumbu Valley from Lukla to Base Camp and back again - unless, of course, you can afford a helicopter!. The journey usually takes several weeks and can sometimes seem a little daunting to a novice hiker. But don't panic, it's very achievable!

The first thing to make clear is that the Everest Base Camp  Trek requires no technical climbing and is essentially a long hike. We therefore strongly believe that anyone with determination and a basic fitness level can trek the route - and all of our successful clients attest to this!. We have seen overweight, underweight, old and young do this trek and all of them enjoyed it thoroughly.
That being said, there are a number of crucial factors to consider prior to trekking the route such as length, altitude and training that will help you determine whether you think the Everest Base Camp Trek route is the right trek for you.

 Best time to visit Nepal:

Spring (March, April & May) and Autumn (September, October and November) are the best time of the year to visit Nepal. During this time, the weather is pleasant with efficient sunlight and warmth. The sky is clear which means that you can truly enjoy the remarkable Nepalese landscape complete with the Himalayan vista.
During the monsoon (June-August) although there will be no problem for trekking, the issue could be of less visibility and rain. But for a keen botanist, monsoon is a blessing as the higher valleys, mountains and meadows blossom with flowers and abundant vegetation. You can trek in winter (December, January, February) as well especially in the hilly regions but as you reach higher elevations it is much more colder with snow- fall. If you don’t necessary enjoy crowds, trekking during the monsoon or winter or choosing more solitary trekking destination could be your options. Note that due to global warming there has been a change in the regular climate worldwide and Nepal is no exception. Please be open to unpredictable weather conditions as well

High Altitude:

This is a high altitude journey and elevation starts from low 2810 m to 5,545 m high, where symptoms of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) might occur due to dry air and less oxygen, as our adventure starts with flight to Lukla and  overnight stops at Phakding in nice and cozy local lodge, which provides you with acclimatization as well with rest day at Namche Bazaar before heading much higher altitude for Everest Base Camp Trek.In this trip one needs to be in good physical shape with sound health to avoid other medical complication on route the journey, just follow our guide he will advice and suggestion which keeps and makes you feel secure to enjoy this fabulous adventure with us.

Weather & Climate

The weather depending upon the season of trekking in Everest Himalayan belts, where's Everest Trek can be visited all time of the year, however monsoon months of July to mid September will be wet but much greener with heavy moistures.
The best time will be from March to May when wild flowers are in full bloom around Phakding and Namche Bazaar in 2,000 m to 3,000 m high and then tree lines and vegetation declines for rough arctic terrain, the temperature will be 15 to 20 degree Celsius during the day with sunlight, morning and evening can be much cooler with minimum of -0 to 05 degree Celsius not counting the wind chill factors.

As the trek leads higher above 4,000 m temperature drops in the shade as well in the morning and night time, day will be clear with strong sunlight and UV (due to drop in oxygen and air pressure on high elevation) , where you need strong sun screen to avoid sun burn in direct sunlight.Mid September to December will be the clearest weather but with short days minimum of -05 to -10 degree Celsius in the morning and night time with maximum of 15-20 degree during the day in full sunlight, also depends upon the altitude and areas of trekking.
